I Love You, but You're Going Down!!!

The title of this post refers to a statement that I made to my spouse and the "friendly" competition that has developed between us in the world of blogging. Last year she decided to create a blog dedicated to discussions about the symbols that exist in all aspects of life. Since starting her blog, she has received many positive comments and thousands of visitors from around the world. The other great thing that it has done is to give her a way of expressing herself and her ideas in a creative way. Recently I decided that I too might like to have an outlet for my thoughts and mental energy buildup. A blog seemed like a great way to do that. Jokingly I suggested that I could rent space on her blog since it become so popular. Of course her focus is so different than mine that the things that I will talk about on this blog would not fit in with her blog as well as likely would not interest her readers. But when she told me that I couldn't put my blog on her site, my ego and competitive nature kicked in and the battle cry "I love you, but you're going down!" came flying out. You'd have to know us to understand that one reason that we have been successful in our relationship is because we compete at games and keep each other's ego in check, but we never compete regarding our relationship. We are the ultimate example of the Yin and Yang. I'm incomplete without her and I'm pretty sure that she feels the same way about me. There are things that I know that she is simply better at or enjoys doing more than I do, so she is the leader when it comes to those subjects. I have my own interests and talents and so I take the lead in those categories. Perfection is not a descriptor nor is it a goal, however. We have flaws both individually and as a couple. We're just perfect for each other. So our competition, isn't really a competition since we both want the other to be successful and we're going to help each other in this arena as well as any other. That doesn't mean that we won't be trying our best to be the more successful blog. Hopefully our readers will be the winners because we will provide them with useful and entertaining content.
